Homework
Monday is the last day for students to hand in their Book-in-a-bag presentation. Most students have already completed their presentation. If these are not in by Monday a mark of 1 will be given.
Pizza Pretzel orders are due Monday, May 12th.
Art for the Mendel must be turned in by tomorrow or it will be too late to have it in the gallery.
Short stories are due on Friday.
Friday students will be at the Uof S. Mr. Horner will send a note home tomorrow as a reminder. I will email this out.
Grade 7 math homework - 1- 8 due tomorrow. Correct it at home.
The student art and the mural look amazing! I hope that over the next few weeks you have a change to go and see it. It will be in the auditorium of the Mendel Art Gallery for the entire month of May. It will be open to the public in the next few days. The students should really be proud of themselves.

Classroom update
Hello families,
I apologize for not blogging about our class in such a long time. It has been a very busy spring. We have been trying to wrap up two major projects and have been working hard.
Our culture projects are all coming a long nicely. Students had to chose two projects to represent their culture. They have also worked on replicating the art of an artist from the country that they researched. This work will be on display at the celebration of learning on Thursday. I know some students want to prepare food for this event, but it is not necessary. Our class will be set up in the gym and the milk room. We will have our art on display as well as the mural and we will perform the dances and poems that you may have seen at our performance at the end of February.
Next week our class will display our learning and projects around sustainability. We have made a big difference in the amount of waste that classrooms send to the garbage can. The class made presentations to classrooms about composting and recycling and the waste sorts that we have conducted have shown that the campaigns have been a success.
I meant to send a note home today about next week and our display at the WDM, but I forgot to hand it out to the kids when the bell rang. I will include the note here, and send the hard copy home tomorrow.
The celebration of learning is on Thursday night from 6:30-8:00. It is not mandatory, but it would be great if all students were able to attend.
Here is a copy of the newsletter that I meant to send home today:

Dear
Parents,
Last week
the teacher planning committee met and planned for the sustainability project
showcase. Students will be bussed to the WDM on April 15 for the day. We will
set up our displays in the morning and then have members of the public and
parents tour the show between 11:00 and 2:00.
Eleven
schools have participated in this city wide project, and this event will
showcase the projects that each classroom completed. With 300 students in
attendance, this will be a busy event.
Our class
will have our videos showcased on the main stage at 1:15. They will run for 20
to 30 minutes. We will also have our projects on display as well as graphs that
show the difference we’ve made at St. Anne School in regards to waste and
idling reduction.
Lunch will
be provided that day. Students will be given a sandwich, a piece of fruit, and
a juice box. Please send snacks if this will not be enough lunch for your
child. We were asked to submit a list of student allergies prior to the event
so that students with special food needs could have those needs met.
I have
included a media release form from the City of Saskatoon. They would like to
use photos from this event for their website and in advertising. I believe that
if they want to use a photo of a child from our school they will contact us to
make sure that there has been proper consent. I will notify you if they contact
me about a photo of your child. They will not use student names in their ads or
on their website.
Parents are
more than welcome to attend this event.
If you have
any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Jennifer
Gallays
